Independence Day is almost here which means it’s time for extended holiday time to patriotically celebrate our nation with fireworks, cookouts, balloons, watermelons, and more!
With so many great events happening the in the central Mississippi area, we thought we'd put together some of those that caught our eyes to save you from having to go searching, making your planning easier! Here's a list we put together:
- June 30 RIDGELAND – The annual Celebrate America Balloon Glow, The city’s annual Fourth of July celebration which began in 1990, is returning to Northpark mall on Friday, June 30 with music, food, and other fun activities for the whole family. Event starts at 7:30pm. Fireworks begin at 9:35 p.m., and Temperance Babcock will end the night with their patriotic music performance during the fireworks. Admission is Free.
- July 1st THE REZ – Saturday morning, the annual 2023 Dash ‘N Splash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will take place at Old Trace Park. After the race, cool down with watermelon, water slides and enjoy the giant water balloon bash. Registration is required. https://raceroster.com/events/2023/75387/2023-dash-n-splash-run-walk-and-roll
- July 1st: THE REZ Chad Perry & The County Line Drifters concert at Pelican Cove in Ridgeland from 1-5PM. Grab some tunes, lunch, and spirits on the water.
- July 1st-4th VICKSBURG The 160 Anniversary of the culmination of the Vicksburg battle and 47 day siege is being commemorated with several days of events from living history to cannon demonstrations to camels! Details at: https://www.nps.gov/vick/planyourvisit/surrender-weekend.htm
- July 1st THE REZ The 12th Annual Independence Celebration at THE REZ will be on Saturday, July 1st from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. highlighted by a fireworks show visible at Bobby Cleveland Park at Lakeshore at 9:00 p.m. This event is free to the public!
- July 1st JACKSON’s Fireworks Extravaganza is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at Smith Wills Stadium on Lakeland Drive. There will be food vendors and a Kidz Zone from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 601-960-0471 Admission is free.
- July 1st CANTON The Annual Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Fest main day. The festival begins at 5 p.m. at the Canton Multipurpose Center and ends at 9 p.m. Includes: live music, a balloon chase run/walk, balloon glow, Good Samaritan’s Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser, and fireworks to end the night.
- July 3rd The annual MADISON Fireworks Show is returning to Liberty Park this year with live music, food, and fun for the whole family. Food trucks will be on site at 5 p.m. and will sell foods like chicken on a stick, barbecue, snow cones, and more. Admission to the show is free, but vendor prices vary. A Live Band starts playing at 6 p.m. and perform up until the fireworks at 9 p.m. Admission is FREE.
- July 4th JACKSON The annual Farm Bureau Watermelon Classic 5K Run/Walk is once again taking place the morning of July 4th at 7:30am at theMississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum on Lakeland Drive. The post-race watermelon is the best after completing the 5k Run, 5K Walk, and a One Mile Fun Run. Registration at: https://msfame.com/
- July 4th PEARL is once again hosting a fireworks show at Trustmark Park. The event is presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi in partnership with the city of Pearl and the Mississippi Braves. Gates open at 6 p.m., with fireworks at 9 p.m. Parking and admission are free. Stadium concessions will be open and food trucks will be on hand. Entertainment will include programming on the video board, on-field games and patriotic music. Visitors are also encouraged to tailgate and watch the fireworks from any of the parking lots surrounding Trustmark Park.
- July 4th CLINTON: The 33rd Annual Red White & Blues will be held July 4 at Traceway Park in Clinton. The event begins at 5 p.m., with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Performances from Keith Johnson & The Big Muddy Band and Rod Smith will entertain the crowd. Food vendors will be set up, along with a Kid Zone that features games and bounce houses. Parking is $10 per vehicle.
- July 4th D'LO: D'Lo Water Park's Annual Event including concessions, fireworks, and band is from 6:00pm to 10pm. Fireworks at 8pm. Details at https://dlowaterpark.com/
- July 4th RICHLAND: Empire Truck’s annual fireworks display will be held at 9pm in Richland. The address is 373 Hwy 49 and admission is free.
- July 4th: The VICKSBURG Independence Day Fireworks Celebration is set for July 4 in downtown Vicksburg. Live music by the Chill will begin at 7 p.m. Fireworks will be set off at 9 p.m. behind the Old Depot Museum, 1010 Levee Street. Organizers say “You can find a spot” along Washington Street between Jackson and Grove streets.
